Literature is the soul of cultural arts and the symbol of a city's culture. Hong Kong, as a confluence of Eastern and Western cultures, has developed its unique Hong Kong literature with a distinctive cultural history.
We are dedicated to establishing a new landmark for Hong Kong literature and arts that combines a rich collection of Hong Kong literary works, literary communication, education and training, and vibrant literary salons. The Museum of Hong Kong Literature will not only collect and curate literary works from different eras but also showcase these works to the public and visitors. It will shoulder the responsibility of promoting and providing literary education to the public, driving the development of Hong Kong literature through diverse activities and solidifying its place in the global literary community.
Mission
As the exhibition center of Hong Kong literature, we will integrate modern digital technology to introduce Hong Kong's literary works to the public and visitors, narrating the century-old story of Hong Kong literature. As the educational hub, we will provide literary education to the public, promote Hong Kong culture, and inspire a passion for reading and writing among children and youth, fostering the inheritance and growth of Hong Kong literature. As the creation base for Hong Kong stories, we will organize literary events and writing workshops to cultivate new literary talents and promote creative writing in Hong Kong. As the exchange hub between Chinese and international writers, we will host numerous literary salons each year, inviting renowned authors to engage in face-to-face discussions with literature enthusiasts, and contributing to Hong Kong's role as a center for Chinese literary exchange.
